The event covered all aspects of data mining, algorithms, software, systems and applications from a practical standpoint for researchers and developers in different fields such as statistics, machine learning, pattern recognition, data storage, knowledge-based systems and high-performance computing.

Among the most important addresses were those of Rakesh Agrawal, CEO and founder of Data Insights Laboratories, who gave a presentation on Big Data or Big Garbage; Yoshua Bengio, of Montreal University Deep, who delivered a paper on Learning; and Elisa Bertino, of Purdue University, with a presentation on Big Data, security and privacy.
