Afterwork is an Anglo-Saxon custom that has spread to Barcelona and is here to stay. It’s a more polished version of our “salir de cañas” (going out for a few beers) and is done for the same reasons: leaving work problems aside, relaxing, having a laugh, or just spending some time chatting with work colleagues. The aim is to foster relations with workmates, which helps to create closer-knit, more understanding teams.
After a long day’s work, it’s fun to mingle with friends away from the humdrum of work routines, corporate hierarchies and formal environments.
Afterwork sessions can be great at any time of year, but summer tends to lends itself more. The sunny weather puts us in a better mood. Days are longer and the warm weather encourages us to get out and about and spend more time with friends and colleagues.
And if in addition to going out with friends and workmates we visit places where people from different companies also hang out, they give us a chance to make contacts that may turn out to be helpful for work purposes.
This is where WTC provides an ideal setting for summer afterwork sessions. WTCB’s terraces are a perfect place for people to get acquainted as they enjoy the soft summer sea breeze with some background music and an appetising cocktail or two. They’re a great venue in which to deepen relationships in a comfortable, easy-going setting. And without having to go further afield!
WTC’s seaside location also offers other summertime activities, such as going for a seaside stroll or visiting Barcelona’s fascinating Maritime Museum. Never been? Check it out: you can find out on the WTC Barcelona Facebook page how to get two tickets to visit the museum this summer.
