WORKPLANE DESIGN JOINS WTC BARCELONA
Get to know the company from the inside through Dolors Sebastià, the firm’s Business Development Manager
This year marks the arrival of WORKPLANE DESIGN to the World Trade Center Barcelona. The firm is made up of a multidisciplinary team that offers design solutions for businesses, as Dolors Sebastià, its Business Development Manager, explains.
Workplane Design started operations in 2005 through its director, Josep Casal, who garnered 14 years’ experience in Sanyo Spain’s R&D department. He then went on to collaborate with HP in designing large-scale printers. Following that experience, he founded the firm while keeping HP as a client. Workplane Design gradually expanded its services, and ten years later its portfolio now includes: product design and development, project management, graphic and interactive design, improving user experience, website development, apps, e-marketing, and, just recently, innovation workshops following the “Design Thinking” methodology.
”Day-to-day concerns tend to take up company time, so our aim is to fulfill the corporate need for assistance in developing the ideas they’ve had to put on the back burner due to lack of time and/or qualified personnel”, says Dolors Sebastià. This is where the Workplane Design team comes into play, to:
As Sebastià states, “based on specific profiles, we provide support and consultancy services for our clients’ projects, either in the office or for integration over the short, medium and long terms. As you know, outsourcing improves corporate productivity and quality standards, since it turns overhead expenses into variable costs”.
Like other design studios, Workplane Design has its own brainstorming laboratory, the ’Workplane Lab’, where innovative projects for development through crowdfunding are created, offering them to companies interested in investing in them.
As Dolors says, “we’re a lively, creative team that’s always looking for new ideas”, so they moved to the World Trade Center Barcelona because they needed ”a pleasant, relaxed setting with fine views, but active and dynamic at the same time”. The WTCB complex offers the firm the possibility of “forming part of a great business community with an international outlook, with all the energy that this creates”.
