The first World Trade Centers were created after the Second World War in Houston, New Orleans and Tokyo. Since 1968, the year in which it was founded, the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) has collaborated in the promotion of international trade around the world.

The main objectives of the Association are to increase the interchange of information and service amongst trade centers, foster commercial relationships, aid the economic development of nations, develop new products and services that favour the functions of associated trade centers and promote the creation of new World Trade Centers.

With thirty years of experience behind it, the Association is currently present in numerous cities around the world and is considered to be one the most influential international organisations, with more than 300 affiliated centers in over a hundred countries on the five continents, there being more than half a million associated companies.
